The deity of Jesus Christ

I want to explain to you the deity of Jesus Christ, because many churches are either teaching a trinity god, or they are teaching that
Jesus is nothing more than God’s servant. Most churches agree that God the Father sent His Son, Jesus Christ into the world to
be the sacrifice for our sin, and He died on the cross to make salvation possible. However, I am going to show you from scripture
that salvation is impossible unless Jesus is God, and not only is He God, He is the Father, Word, and the Holy Spirit all in one.
In Isaiah 43:10-11, God said, “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and
believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the
LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.”
From these verses, we know two important things:
1. There is only one God
2. God is the only savior
So, if Jesus is not God, how would the New Testament contradict Isaiah 43:10? In John 20:28 Thomas answered Jesus saying,
“My LORD and my God.” In verse 29 Jesus replied saying, “Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are
they that have not seen, and yet have believed.” If Jesus was not God, He would have corrected Thomas. However, Jesus did not
correct him, because He is God. If the Father said in Isaiah 43:10 that He is the only God, then Jesus Christ and the Father must
be one.
The New Testament of the Bible says that Jesus Christ is the savior in Luke 2:11, John 4:42, Acts 5:31, Acts 13:23,
Ephesians 5:23, Philippians 3:20, 2 Timothy 1:10, Titus 1:4, Titus 2:13, Titus 3:6, 2 Peter 1:1, 2 Peter 2:20, 2 Peter 3:18, and
1 John 4:14. So, according to Isaiah 43:11, if Jesus Christ is not God, He cannot be our savior, and all those scriptures in the
Bible would be lies. However, we know from 2 Timothy 3:16 that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and according to Paul
in Titus 1:2, God cannot lie. If God said in Isaiah 43:11 that He is the only savior, yet the Bible is clear that Jesus Christ is our
savior, then Jesus Christ must be God.
In Isaiah 48:11, God said, “I will not give my glory unto another” God will not give His glory to anyone. He is the only one Who is to
be praised. He is the only one Who is to be worshiped. He alone is God Who receives the glory. However, if Jesus is not God,
then again, the New Testament would contradict God’s own words in Isaiah 48:11, because people worship Jesus for being their
savior. They worship Him because He is Lord. Go through the gospel and note all the times that people worshiped Jesus.
Matthew 2:1-2 “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men
from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are
come to worship him.”
Matthew 28:9 “And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the
feet, and worshipped him.”
People also came and worshipped Jesus in Matthew 9:18, 14:33, 15:25, 18:26, 20:20, and 28:17. If Jesus is not God, then not
only would all those people have committed blasphemy for worshipping Him, but Jesus would have corrected them, because it
would have been wrong to worship Him.
In Matthew 4:9, Satan said to Jesus, “All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.” Jesus answered in
verse 10 saying, “Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.”
Jesus rebuked Satan saying that we are to only worship God, yet not one time did He correct the people for worshipping Him.
Jesus accepted their praise and worship, because He is God.
People do not understand the deity of Christ, because they learn doctrines of men rather than reading the Bible. People say, “But
what about the Trinity?” The Bible does not use the word, Trinity, it uses the word, Godhead; three in one. God is the Father, Word,
and Holy Spirit all in one.
1 John 5:7 says, “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are
one.”
It does not say they are three separate beings or persons that work together as one, it says they are one.
Colossians 2:9 “For in him (Jesus Christ) dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.”
God is three in one just as we are three in one. In Jesus dwells the fullness of the Godhead. Jesus is the Father, the Word, and
the Holy Spirit. Remember, God created us in His image according to Genesis 1:27. We have a soul, a body, and a spirit. One part
of us would not work without the other. Your body is your flesh. Your soul is your character and personality. Your spirit is what
gives you life. Your soul, or your character and personality, cannot be seen unless you have a body. Neither your soul nor body
could live without your spirit. These three, the soul, body, and spirit altogether in one is what makes you the person you are. This
is the same with God, and Jesus tries to explain this in scripture.
John 1:18, “No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.”
The body of Jesus Christ declares God in the same way your body declares you. You are manifest in your body in the same way
God was manifest in His Son, the body of Jesus Christ. God became a man. It was not the Son of God who was manifest in a
man, it was God who was manifest in the Son. The Father manifest Himself in the Son, in the flesh, the body of Jesus Christ. God
our Father was manifest in the flesh. His Son, was begotten of Him and He was manifest in the Son.
John 1:1 says, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” Then verse 14 says, “And
the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of
grace and truth.”
1 John 1:1-2 “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked
upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and
shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)”
John 1:1 says the Word was with God; 1 John 1:2 says the Word was with the Father. This makes it clear that God is the Father.
God is never referred to as anyone but the Father. In the beginning was eternal life, and eternal life was with the Father, and
eternal life was the Father. Eternal life was made flesh and dwelt among us.
1 John 3:16 “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the
brethren.”
Acts 28:20 says God has purchased us with His own blood. The Word was made flesh. God became a man so that He could lay
down His own life and shed His own blood for us. Jesus is God our Father manifest in a mans body.
Jesus said in John 8:18-19, “I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. Then said
they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have
known my Father also.” Jesus is telling them that He is God in the flesh, but they did not understand Him.
In John 8:28 Jesus said, “When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself;
but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.” Remember, your body can do nothing of itself. You must have a soul that
tells the body what to do, and what to speak.
Jesus said in John 12:49-50, “For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I
should say, and what I should speak. And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as
the Father said unto me, so I speak.”
Jesus did not do anything of Himself without His Father, in the same way your body will not do anything of itself without your soul.
Jesus is the manifestation of the Father in the same way you are the manifestation of your soul.
John 12:44-45 “Jesus cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. And he that seeth
me seeth him that sent me.”
Jesus said in John 14:7-11, “If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and
have seen him. Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us. Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time
with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us
the Father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself:
but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works. Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me
for the very works’ sake.”
If Jesus and the Father are two separate persons of a trinity, then what Jesus is saying to Philip makes no sense. Why would
Jesus answer Philip in the way He does unless He is the Father in the flesh?
Philip asks to see the Father!
Jesus replies, “Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip?”
If Jesus was not the Father, then that statement would be very confusing and people could even call Him a liar for implying that He
was the Father. However, Titus 1:2 says God cannot lie, and 1 Corinthians 14:33 says God is not the author of confusion. Jesus
answers Philip in this way, because He is the manifestation of the Father. The Father is speaking to Philip through the body of
Jesus in the same way your soul would speak to someone through your body. That is why Jesus said if you have seen Him, you
have seen the Father.
In Exodus 3:14, God said unto Moses, “I AM THAT I AM. Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto
you.” In John 8:58, Jesus said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” Jesus is professing to be God in the
flesh. When He said this, the Jews picked up stones to cast at Him. In John 10:30, Jesus said, “I and my Father are one.” Again,
Jesus is professing to be God in the flesh, and again, the Jews picked up stones to cast at Him. The Jews wanted to stone
Jesus, because in their eyes, His profession was blasphemy. They did not believe Jesus was God in the flesh, but that He was a
mere man.
John 10:31-33 “Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you
from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me? The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not;
but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.”
In Isaiah 48:12 God said, “I am he; I am the first, I also am the last.” In John 8:23-24, Jesus said, “Ye are from beneath; I am from
above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I
am he, ye shall die in your sins.”
In Revelation 1:8, Jesus said, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was,
and which is to come, the Almighty.” In Revelation 1:17-18, Jesus said, “I am the first and the last: I am he that liveth, and was
dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen:” In Revelation 22:13, Jesus said, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and
the end, the first and the last.”
God is, “I am” - Jesus is “I am”
God is “I am he” - Jesus is “I am he”
God is “First and last” - Jesus is “First and last”
Jesus did not say, “I am the other I am.” or “I am the other first and last.” Jesus is clearly professing to be the one and only God
Almighty.
1 Timothy 3:16 “And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit,
seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
Jesus was the manifestation of God
John 1:14 “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the
Father,) full of grace and truth.”
Jesus was preached unto the Gentiles
Ephesians 3:8 “Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the
unsearchable riches of Christ;”
Jesus was received up into glory
Mark 16:19 “So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.”
Luke 24:51 “And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.”
1 Timothy 3:16 makes it very clear that Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh.
God our Father became a man so He could lay down His life for us. In John 8:41-42, the Jews said that God was their Father.
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, ye would love me:” God is the Father to those who love Jesus.
In Romans 1:7, 2 Corinthians 1:2, Ephesians 1:2, Philippians 1:2, Colossians 1:2, and many other verses, Paul says God is our
Father. A Trinitarian would agree that the Father is God, but they would not agree that God is the Father, because in their twisted
view of scripture, to say God is the Father would be to say the Son and Holy Spirit are the Father as well. If God is the Father, then
when God was manifest in the flesh, that leaves no other option to believe in except that our Father was manifest in the flesh. God
manifest the fullness of His own deity in the flesh. Jesus is the Father in the flesh.
John 5:16-18 “And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the
sabbath day. But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work. Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him,
because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.”
The Jews said in John 8:41 that God was their Father, so why would they cast stones at Jesus for saying God was His Father?
You and I say that God is our Father. When you say God is your Father, are you making yourself equal to God? Would any Jews
seek to kill you? No. Why? Because it was not that Jesus said God was His Father, it was that He said His Father worketh
hitherto, and He works. The Jews understood that statement in the same way I do, that Jesus is proclaiming to be the Father in a
man’s body. Jesus even goes on to make it more clear to them.
John 5:19 “Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son (His body) can do nothing of himself,
but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.”
The Son is the body of Jesus. The Son has no will of its own in the same way your body has no will of its own. This is the same
with the way you function as a single person. Your body can do nothing of itself. Your soul delivers a message to your body, your
body receives this message and follows the instruction. Your soul is your person, your body is what makes known your person.
The Father is the single person of God who manifest Himself in a body in the same way our soul is manifest in our body.
Jesus said in John 5:27, “And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.”
When the Bible says Jesus is the Son of God and the Son of man, it means that He has the nature of God and the nature of man
at the same time, because He is God manifest in the flesh. The Father and Jesus are not separate persons, they are the same
person in separate natures.
Jesus said in John 5:31-32, “If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true. There is another that beareth witness of me; and I
know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.”
Jesus said in John 8:18-19, “I am one that bear witness of myself, and the Father that sent me beareth witness of me. Then said
they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have
known my Father also.”
If Jesus had made Himself known as a man only, then His witness would not have been true, because He was God inside that
man. This is not two persons, this is one person in two natures. If Jesus bore witness of Himself and He was a separate person
from the Father, then His witness would have been true. However, His witness was only true when it was given by the Father and
the Son, because they are the same person. Jesus is the fullness of God in a mans body.
Psalm 62:11 “God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.”
In Matthew 6:9-13, Jesus taught us to pray, saying that power belongs to the Father for ever. God our Father will not give His
power to another, it is His alone forever.
Colossians 2:10 “And ye are complete in him (Jesus Christ), which is the head of all principality and power:”
Matthew 28:18 “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.”
God said power belongs Him, yet Jesus said all power is His. If all power is given to Jesus, then it would no longer belong to
God, unless Jesus is God in the flesh. God our Father did not give all power to another person, He gave all power to Himself as a
man on this earth.
If Jesus was not God in the flesh, then Colossians 2:10 says He was more powerful than God. It says Jesus is the head of all
principality and power. This can only be true if Jesus Christ is God manifest in the flesh.
Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”
Jeremiah 32:17 “Ah Lord GOD! behold, thou hast made the heaven and the earth by thy great power and stretched out arm, and
there is nothing too hard for thee:”
Isaiah 37:16 “O LORD of hosts, God of Israel, that dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the
kingdoms of the earth: thou hast made heaven and earth.”
Nehemiah 9:6 “Thou, even thou, art LORD alone; thou hast made heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host, the earth, and
all things that are therein, the seas, and all that is therein, and thou preservest them all; and the host of heaven worshippeth thee.”
Isaiah 44:24 “Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things;
that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;”
According to the Old Testament, God created the heaven and the earth and everything in them. So, God created everything.
However, if Jesus is not God, then again, the New Testament would contradict the Old Testament.
John 1:10-11 “He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto his own, and his
own received him not.”
John 1:3 “All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.”
Colossians 1:16 “For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be
thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:”
Jesus is the creator of everything that was made. The Bible does not contradict itself. If God created all things in the Old
Testament, and Jesus created all things in the New Testament, then Jesus must be God, because they both could not have
created everything. The only way the Bible can be completely true, without any contradictions is if Jesus Christ is God, not one of
the persons of a trinity, but He alone is God.
Isaiah 37:20 “Now therefore, O LORD our God, save us from his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art
the LORD, even thou only.”
Isaiah 9:6 “For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall
be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah is telling a prophecy of the birth of Jesus Christ. His name is Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting
Father, The Prince of Peace. This makes it clear that Jesus is God our Father.
“Okay, so, if Jesus is God, then why did He pray to God?” That is a good question, but I want you to think about this. In order for
God to justify us, He had to have a perfect “man” sacrifice. But you see, God is our only savior; beside Him there is no savior. So,
in order for a man sacrifice to be made for us, God had to become that man.
Philippians 2:5-8 “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to
be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of
men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.”
In order to satisfy justice, Jesus had to fulfill the law as a man. He had to be tempted as a man, yet without sin. He had to be
obedient to God. He had to have faith in God to receive strength in the same way you and I do. “But why would God have to have
faith in Himself?” Because He made Himself in the likeness of men; He was just like you and I are. He needed God in the same
way we do. This is why Jesus prayed to God.
Someone might say, “Okay, Jesus is equal with God, but that does not mean He is God.” Well, you might think that is possible,
but what does the Bible say?
Isaiah 44:8 “Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is
there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.
Isaiah 45:6 “That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and
there is none else.”
If Jesus is equal to God, He would be like God, but God says there is none like Him. There is none beside God, meaning there is
nobody that is equal to Him. Either the Bible contradicts itself, or Jesus is equal with God, because He is God.
“Well, then why do we pray to the Father in Jesus name?” In 1 Timothy 2:5 it says that Jesus Christ is the only mediator between
us and God. The only reason we can communicate with God is because of what has been done through Jesus Christ. God is
Perfect; He is Holy, Righteous, and Pure. We are sinful; we are evil, corrupt, and wicked. God has to be separated from us.
However, when God became a man, He took our sin and died in our place so that we could be made the righteousness of God
that was in Jesus Christ. The blood of Jesus covers us all; we now have access to God because of what He has done through
His Son. Without the sacrifice of Jesus, we would have no fellowship with God whatsoever. No coming to Him in prayer, no asking
and receiving, no communication at all. When you pray in Jesus name, you're saying, “Father, in the name of Jesus, in the name
of what you've done for me.” You're acknowledging that only through God’s work in Jesus Christ do you have any access to God.
Isaiah 46:9 “Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like me,”
The Jesus of the Bible is before all, above all, creator of all, all in all, the Lord God Almighty! You can find other gods who are three
persons in one essence, but there is only one God who is a single person, who manifest Himself in a mans body, who walked
this earth in perfect obedience, who took our sins upon Himself so that we could be made the righteousness of God that was in
Him, who died under the wrath of God’s perfect judgment and put our sin to death, who rose again and ascended into heaven far
above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and His name is Jesus!
