Do you truly believe in Jesus?
People think John 3:16 is all they need in order to be saved. John 3:16 is one of the most misunderstood verses in the Bible,
because people do not understand what it means to believe. I can tell you that almost everyone who you talk to will say that they
believe in Jesus. Are they all going to heaven? Even Satan worshipers believe in Jesus, are they going to heaven? That verse
does not mean just to believe that Jesus exists. If it were that simple than almost everyone would make it to heaven, and we
know that is not going to happen, because Jesus said few shall find the way to life. So what does it mean to believe in Jesus?
You believe in doctors, but you are not going to be like one unless you follow what they do. You believe in teachers, but you are
not going to teach unless you want to learn. How do you expect yourself to become more like Jesus if you are not following His
footsteps? You cannot believe that you are saved if you are still living like the world.
Jesus said in John 12:46 “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.”
You might say that Romans 10:13 says, “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Yes, but look at
the next verse. Romans 10:14 says, “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed?” You must truly believe in
Jesus in order to be saved.
To truly believe in Jesus means to abide in His commands. You cannot think that somehow you can get your way around
following God’s laws by simply asking Jesus into your heart and asking Him to forgive you. If the word of God does not abide in
you then you do not truly believe in Jesus.
Jesus said in John 5:38 “And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not."
If you do not have the word of God abiding in you than you have not truly believed. You must repent and believe.
