Conversion
Conversion means being converted into the righteousness of God through Jesus. God changes you into a new
creature with a new heart and a new spirit.

Ezekiel 36:26 “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will take the heart of stone out of
your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.”

A heart of stone has no feeling because it is hardened. No guilt from their sin, no love for righteousness or a
desire to follow the commands in the bible. But a person with a heart of flesh feels guilt in their conscience
when they sin and has a strong desire to turn away from sin and follow righteousness.

Ezekiel 36:27 “I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My
judgments and do them.”

God places His Spirit within you and you walk according to His ways. You no longer struggle to keep God’s
commandments because the Spirit of God within you is the power you have to walk in His statutes. He doesn’t
say you will try your best to keep His judgments, He says you will keep them. Your flesh dies and God’s Spirit
becomes alive within you.

Romans 6:3-5 “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into
His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from
the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united
together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection.”

Romans 8:10 “And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of
righteousness.”

I can’t live in righteousness, but Jesus can. I can’t have pure desires, but Jesus can. I can’t feel a love for you
that is so strong that I would give up my life to save you, but Jesus can. It is Jesus Who lives inside of me that is
the cause of my new way of living. I have died of myself and now Jesus lives in me.

In
Galatians 2:20 Paul said, “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me.”

The old man dies and Jesus lives inside of you. But you must recognize that you have the Spirit of God living
inside or you or you cannot say that you've been converted.

Romans 8:9 “But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if
anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.”
