Do you have faith?
Ephesians 2:8-10 “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any
man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that
we should walk in them.”
“So salvation is by faith?” Yes, but it depends on what faith means to you. Most people think they can live their life however they
want to and as long as they have faith, they are going to heaven. I tried to witness to a man who got drunk all the time and he told
me that his drinking did not matter, because he had faith. Do you believe that you can live however you want and still go to
heaven because of your faith? Faith in what? Faith that allows you to do the very things that will send a person to hell? What kind
of faith would allow you to live like this? Do you really think faith is an excuse to live in sin?
Romans 3:31 “Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.”
Our faith will cause us to follow the law. In Matthew chapter nine a woman with a disease believed that if she touched the
garment that Jesus was wearing that she would be healed. Jesus turned and told her that her faith has made her whole. Then
two blind men followed Jesus and Jesus healed them according to their faith. Faith will cause you to take action. The diseased
woman did not sit at home and expect Jesus to come to her and heal her; she went to Him. The two blind men did not wait on
Jesus to come to them and open their eyes; they went after Jesus and believed in Him to heal them.
Faith must cause you to act. You cannot just sit around and believe that you have faith. Your faith must cause you to follow Christ
and obey His teachings. Faith is not just a false hope that you might one day go to heaven because you believe in Jesus or
because you go to church. Faith is following God’s word and putting complete confidence in the outcome. Your faith will produce
works of righteousness. If your faith does not cause you to abide in God’s word than it is in vain.
James 2:14 “What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?”
James 2:17-18 “Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works:
shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.”
James 2:20 “But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?”
James 2:24 “Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.”
James 2:26 “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.”
Do not sit back and think that faith is your ticket to heaven if you’re not abiding in God‘s word. If you truly put faith in Jesus, you
will abide in His word and your life will be a reflection of His righteousness. I pray you compare yourself to the word of God to
see if you are in the faith. To learn more about testing yourself to see if you are in the faith
