How do I get started?
If you are new to witnessing, the first thing you will want to do is study. You want to be able to fully explain things to people in a
way they can understand. Read the Bible. Read over the teachings on this website. Gain as much knowledge as you can, and try
to memorize scripture so you will be more effective when you witness to people.
Proverbs 4:5 “Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.”
If you explain what you're teaching with detail and use scripture to back it up, the only reason a person will not understand it is if
they do not want to. If a person is carnal and does not want to believe the truth, they will not understand it, period.
Hebrews 4:2 “For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being
mixed with faith in them that heard it.”
Romans 8:7 “Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.”
Here are some different ways you can be a witness.
Street witnessing: Street witnessing can either be walking the streets talking to people, or handing out tracts or Bibles. I
stop people and ask them questions. I start a conversation that leads into preaching the gospel to them. Sometimes I hand a
tract, a book, or a Bible to the person and ask them if they are a Christian. You can read through the teachings I have on this
website to help you with what questions to ask, and what answers to give to their reply.

Open air: Open air ministry is when you stand around a group of people, usually outside at a park or in a public place, and you
preach the gospel to them. If you can speak well, and you have the knowledge you need to preach, open air ministry is a great
way to reach the lost.
Online ministry: Online ministry is a great way to get started in witnessing. Using myspace and chat rooms to talk to people
is a good way to witness. You can post bulletins with sermons in them. You can use youtube and post videos with a message of
the gospel. There are many ways you can reach the lost online.
Online witnessing can also get you prepared for stepping up to street witnessing. You will see how people react to the law of
God. You will receive questions and learn how to answer them. Over time, you will almost always know what to expect from
people. You will see certain actions or remarks and almost know what they are thinking or how they feel. This comes by
experience. Most carnal people act the same. Most humble people act the same. They will have the same attitude, same
reactions, and even the same questions and comments. Knowing what to expect and how to handle it will help you be more
effective when you move on to street witnessing.
