Are you a good person?
Have you ever met anyone who says they're a bad person? It seems like in order to be a bad person you have
to be on Americas most wanted. People think that they’re a good person just because they’ve not committed
sins like adultery and murder.

First of all,
Jesus said in Matthew 19:17 that there is none good but one, that is God. Second of all, do you
think that you’re completely innocent of adultery and murder? You might think you are, but look what the bible
says about these sins.

Jesus said in Matthew 5:28 “But I say unto you, That whosoever looks on a woman to lust after her has
committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

1 John 3:15 “Whosoever hates his brother is a murderer and you know that no murderer has eternal life
abiding in him.”

How many people can say have never looked at a person and had a sexual thought about them? Or how many
people can honestly say have never shown hatred toward a person? Do you see how easily these laws can be
broken? And even if you still believe that you’re innocent of these things, the bible says if you commit any type
of sin, no matter how great or small, you are guilty of breaking the entire law of God.

James 2:10 “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

The fact is, there is not one of us that can call ourselves a good person.

Isaiah 64:6 “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do
fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.” (KJV)

All of our works of righteousness are like filthy rags in the eyes of God. Going to church, reading your bible,
and all of your obedience to God’s Word, are all works and will never make you righteous enough for heaven.

Job 15:14-16 “What is man, that he could be pure? And he who is born of a woman, that he could be
righteous? If God puts no trust in His saints, And the heavens are not pure in His sight, How much less man,
who is abominable and filthy, Who drinks iniquity like water!”

Look at what Job is saying. Job recognized who we are compared to Who God is. We are not pure. We are not
righteous. There is no amount of good in anyone. We are all filthy in the sight of a Holy God.

Romans 3:10-12 “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth,
there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable;
there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” (KJV)

There is no amount of righteousness in anyone. Nothing you do can make you worthy to be accepted into
heaven. Without Christ we are without any hope for salvation because no one is pure and no one born of the
flesh can be righteous until they’re born again.

Jesus said in John 3:6-7 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

There is no amount of good in you unless you are born again and have received the Spirit of God into your
life. If you do not know if you have been born again
