Idolatry is Americans greatest sin
People always say, “Well, my god is an all loving and all forgiving god.” This is called idolatry and is probably
the most misunderstood of all the sins talked about in the bible. Americas greatest sin is idolatry. Think about
this, and I don’t mean just run this thought through your mind and then read on. You need to understand that if
your god is any different than the true God of the bible than you are following an idol. If your god lets sinners
into heaven than you are following an idol. If your god approves of things that the bible clearly says are sin,
such as homosexuality than you are following an idol. People have believed in a god that does not exist except
for in their own mind. They are blind to the truth, because they seek after their own god rather than seeking the
God of the bible.
Look at American Christianity and how vain it has become. Are they following the God of the bible? Most
Americans don't feel like we should preach the law of God because it's too judgmental. These people do not
follow the God of the bible, but have made a new god in their mind that is more loving and has no law. Why do
you think John the apostle warned us not to follow idols? Do you think he was talking about objects that we
worship? You don't have to worship something in order to make it an idol. Anything that you put before God
becomes an idol. But what was John talking about? I believe John was warning us how important it was that we
followed the God in scripture and did not change the way He is and make Him acceptable to a sinners lifestyle.
The god in most churches today is so loving and forgiving that he allows sinners to remain in the church. This
is not the God of scripture. Jesus said in Matthew 18:17 that they are heathens. Paul said we are get them out
of the church.
Paul said in 1 Corinthians 5:5-7 "Deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit
may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Your glorying is not good. Do you not know that a little leaven
leavens the whole lump? Therefore purge out the old leaven,"
This is not the god in today's church. Let's compare the god in today's church to the God in scripture which is
our Lord Jesus Christ.
Today's god tells you it’s easy to make it to heaven.
Jesus said to strive to enter in
Today's god acts as if everyone in that goes to church is going to heaven.
Jesus said few shall enter in
Today's god comforts sinners
Jesus convicted them with the law
Does Americans god compare to Jesus at all?
Jesus said in Matthew 15:8 “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips,
But their heart is far from Me.
The majority of American people who profess to be Christian are following an idol. Their hearts are far from the
true God of the bible, but rather set on the god in their own mind that is suitable for them.
This god people follow in America is an idol and if they continue to follow it they will end up in hell. If your god
does not compare to the God of scripture than you must repent and follow after Christ.
