Do you swear or cuss and tell perverted jokes? Do you think God is okay with you doing these things? Have
you ever read what the bible has to say about them?
James 5:12 “But above all, my brethren, do not swear, either by heaven or by earth or with any other oath. But
let your “Yes” be “Yes,” and your “No,” “No,” lest you fall into judgment.”
That pretty much sums it up right there. We are not to swear about anything. Simply let your “Yes” be “Yes”
and your “No,“ “No,“ rather than swearing on your grandmas grave or pinky swear or any of the silly things
people come up with.
Leviticus 19:12 “And you shall not swear by My name falsely, nor shall you profane the name of your God: I
am the LORD.”
You are not to swear to God or use the name of Jesus as a cuss word by saying it in vain. These are things
that many professing Christians do and think nothing of them because they do not realize that they are sinful.
Jesus said in Matthew 12:36-37 “But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall
give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou
shalt be condemned.”
Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of
edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers.”
Colossians 3:8 “But now you also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out
of your mouth.”
Cussing is used in corrupt ways, and perverted jokes are used as filthy communication, and neither of them are
in any way good to the use of edifying. You know it’s not a righteous thing to do, so why do it? The things you
say must be acceptable to God. You may say your not serious when you do these things, it’s just something
everyone else does. So are you going to walk right into the fire with them? It may be a bad habit, but it’s one
your going to have to break.
If you swear or cuss and tell perverted jokes, you must repent from doing so and follow righteousness.
