Salvation
This is the Good News that is in the gospel of Jesus Christ. I will preach this gospel in a way you’ve probably
never heard. In fact, I can tell you that most of the people who will read this book have never heard the gospel
of Jesus Christ as it really is. You’ve probably heard there is no cost for salvation, but that’s not true. There is a
cost so great that you or I could never make the payment. So how is that Good News? The Good News is that it
has already been paid for. And you might believe that you have an understanding of how it is paid for, but do
you really know? Lets start from the beginning.
Genesis 1:27 says that God created man in His own image.
God created man and woman in His image. Adam the first man and Eve the first woman. Because they were
created into the image of God, they were perfect. Like God, they also had an eternal spirit that would live on
forever. God put them in the garden of Eden and gave them permission to eat the fruit of any tree except for
the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Genesis 2:15-17 “Then the LORD God took the man and put him in the garden of Eden to tend and keep it.
And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat; but of the
tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

Adam and Eve chose to forsake the will of God and they committed sin by eating the forbidden fruit. This
corrupted them and because they were no longer perfect, God had to be separated from them. This corruption
would be passed on through every generation of man from then on.

Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus
death spread to all men, because all sinned.”

The men and women throughout the rest of time would now be corrupted with sin and God would separated
from them. But sin imposes an even greater problem because
Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is
death. You see, God cannot forgive sin. He demands justice and cannot go against His own law. Because of
our sin, not only would we be separated from God, but we would also have to be put to death. But God had a
plan. He did not want us to be lost forever, but for us to be redeemed back to Himself. In order to do this He had
to make a sacrifice.

Do you want to know how much God loves you? For Him to want to save people, who are corrupted with sin.
People who hated Him. That He would love people who rejected Him and disobeyed His commandments. When
God could have left us all to die in our sin and be separated from Him forever, He came and died in our place.
God became a man and shed His own blood so that we could be made right with Him and able to stand in His
presence. God had to make a way for us to be reconciled into the righteousness He originally created us to be
in. In order to make us right with Him, a perfect sacrifice had to be given for justice to be made.

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

John 1:14 “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only
begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

God became a man and shed His own blood in order for us to be saved. Who was this man? His name is Jesus
Christ, the flesh of Almighty God. He was sent into this world to be a sacrifice for our sins. He lived in a world
that He created and among people who’s lives were given to them by Him.

John 1:10-11 “He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. He came unto
his own, and his own received him not.” (KJV)

Jesus is God in the flesh and He came as a man to this earth to die in our sin so that we could be saved. You
must believe in Christ as the one and only God of your salvation.

In John 8:23-24, Jesus said, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this
world. Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in
your sins.”

You must believe that Jesus is God or you cannot truly understand Who God is and what He has done for us.
God came to earth and lived a perfect life to be the sacrifice for our sins so that we could become perfected
into the righteousness of Him. People will say that nobody could ever live a perfect life.
26% of professing
Christians say that they believe Jesus sinned during His life. Jesus is God, therefore He cannot sin. “But He was
just a man.” Yes, but He was a perfect man.

If Jesus committed sin during His life then we’re all going to hell, because there had to be a perfect sacrifice in
order to make us right with God. In the old testament, a sacrifice had to be perfect without blemish. If Jesus
sinned during His life, He would not have been good enough for our sacrifice. He would have been corrupted
with sin and not worthy to be our savior. Why would God have Jesus trade places with us if He had sinned
during His life? We would be dying to our sinful life just to be born into another. God wouldn’t have accepted
that because it would not have been enough to make us right with Him. We are redeemed into perfection
because Jesus was a perfect sacrifice for our sin.

1 Peter 1:18-19 “Knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your
aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb
without blemish and without spot.”

“How was this sacrifice made?” Jesus lived His life for the purpose of God’s will in being a sacrifice for our sin.
He began His ministry in healing people and teaching men how to live according to God’s Word.

Matthew 4:23 “And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the
kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people.”

People hated Jesus and tormented Him for His teachings. They saw His words and actions as blasphemy. They
denied that He was the Son of God. They counted His works as a crime and wanted Him to be put to death.

Matthew 26:67-68 "Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck Him with the palms of their
hands, saying, “Prophesy to us, Christ! Who is the one who struck You?”

John 19:2-3 “And the soldiers twisted a crown of thorns and put it on His head, and they put on Him a purple
robe. Then they said, “Hail, King of the Jews!” And they struck Him with their hands.”

John 19:6 “Therefore, when the chief priests and officers saw Him, they cried out, saying, “Crucify Him, crucify
Him!”

John 19:16 “Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. Then they took Jesus and led Him away.”

However, this was not what saved us from our sin. There are people who say that Jesus being beat, whipped
and nailed to a cross was payment for our sins. That is not true. Yes, He was beaten, yes, He was whipped, and
yes, He was nailed to a cross, but that is not what saves your sins. In order that we might be saved from death,
God had to place all of our sin on Jesus and put Him to death.

2 Corinthians 5:21 “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him.”

When we should have died and suffered in hell, God made us a way to become righteous through the sacrifice
of Jesus. Jesus became our sin and God killed Him with all the fierce anger and wrath that should have been
poured out on us.

Isaiah 53:10 “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an
offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in
his hand.” (KJV)

Our salvation is not because of what men did to Jesus. It was God who punished Jesus as a sacrifice for our sin
so that we may be made right with Him through the blood that He shed. Jesus was not concerned about what
men was about to do to Him. He knew of the greater pain He would have to go through. The feeling of becoming
an abomination to His Father and being put to death for sins that He never committed. Can you imagine how
Jesus must have felt? A task so horrible He went alone to pray three times for itpass away from Him.

Matthew 26:39 “He went a little farther and fell on His face, and prayed, saying, “O My Father, if it is possible,
let this cup pass from Me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as You will.”

It wasn’t the physical pain and suffering that Jesus feared, but the wrath of His Father. Just think about the
feeling He must have had knowing what He would have to go through. To become the filth of all men and to
have His own Father turn His back on Him. When He hung on that cross, He cried out to God and God did not
answer, for He had become the least in the sight of God. Jesus was afraid of being separated from His Father
and now he was left alone to die.

Psalm 22:1-2 “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the
words of my roaring? O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not
silent.” (KJV)

What Jesus must have felt like. Here He was, a man totally without sin. Holy, righteous and pure, and yet He
was placed on a cross to be condemned for our unrighteousness. Every sin that had you have committed or
would ever commit was placed on Him so that your sin could be put to death.

Isaiah 53:5-6 “But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement
of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have
turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.” (KJV)

John 19:29-30 “Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it
on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And
bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.”

When He hung on that cross, He drank up our iniquity. All of our sin was placed upon Him and His Father
turned away. His own Father turned His back on Him because He had become sin and must be put to death. In
His last words He said, “It is finished.” At that moment, He was put to death for our sin to be raised up again on
the third day for our justification.

Romans 4:25 “Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.”

The sacrifice has been made and your sin has been paid for. The price that you and I would have had to pay
for in hell has been paid. Your sin has been forgiven and you can live an eternal life in heaven because of the
sacrifice God has made for you through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Romans 3:24-26 “Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, whom God
set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His
forbearance God had passed over the sins that were previously committed, to demonstrate at the present time
His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.”

Ephesians 1:7 “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches
of His grace”

1 John 2:2 “And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.”

When Jesus paid that price, He opened the gates of Heaven so that anyone who will give their life to Him can
enter.

Psalm 24:7-8 “Lift up your heads, O ye gates; and be ye lift up, ye everlasting doors; and the King of glory
shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle.” (KJV)

The gates that had once shut everyone out have been opened so that anyone who follows Christ shall be able
to enter.
I pray this has made you see Jesus as a loving Savior and not as a free ticket to heaven. Think about all that
Jesus has done for you. Is all He wants is for you to repent from your sin so that you can be saved.

Acts 3:19 “Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing
may come from the presence of the Lord.”

It doesn’t matter how you’ve lived your life or how many sins you’ve committed, there is still hope for you. God
has made a way for you to live an eternal life with Him in heaven. He gave His Son as a perfect sacrifice for sin
so that you could be saved. God doesn’t want anyone to go to hell.
2 Peter 3:9 says that God does not will that
any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
1 Timothy 2:4 says that He wants everyone to be
saved and to understand the truth. Even in your sinful flesh, God still loves you and wants you to go to heaven.

Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for
us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we
were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be
saved by his life.

John 3:16-17 “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him
should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world through Him might be saved.”
